PHOENIX – The Arizona Lottery Commission approved a rule change designed to preserve fairness and protect the integrity of its Fast Play instant games by prohibiting bulk ticket purchases.
Effective immediately, the Arizona Lottery is implementing new rules that restrict excessive purchasing of Fast Play tickets within a defined timeframe. Under the new rule titled “Prohibition of Bulk Ticket Purchases,” any individual or group that exceeds Fast Play tickets of $50,000 within a 24 hour period of Fast Play purchases, either individually or in coordination with others, may be deemed ineligible to claim prizes associated with those tickets.
The decision comes as part of the Lottery’s ongoing commitment to uphold public trust and ensure that all players have equitable access to the games. These safeguards are designed to address suspicious purchasing behavior that could undermine the designed structure and fairness of the Fast Play experience for everyday players.
“Our goal is to ensure that every player has a fair chance at winning and that the integrity of our games remains strong,” said Arizona Lottery Executive Director Alec Thomson. “This update protects our players and supports the Lottery's mission of maximizing net revenue in a responsible way.”
The Arizona Lottery maintains the right to investigate any purchase patterns that appear to violate this rule and will use tools such as transaction data, surveillance footage, and retailer reports to make such determinations. Players found to be engaging in excessive or coordinated ticket purchases may have their prize claims denied under A.R.S. § 5-554(B)(3).
These updates are part of the Arizona Lottery’s broader effort to strengthen transparency, player protection, and trust in its games. The specific purchase threshold and time window will be detailed in the official Fast Play game rules and may be updated as needed.
