Mega Millions® and Powerball® Jackpots Soar to Holiday Heights

Arizona’s Multi-State Lottery games see largest COVID-19 era advertised jackpots, just in time for Christmas!

PHOENIX (Dec. 21, 2020) – Could there be a better gift this holiday season than winning dueling Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots totaling $651 million? Forget the sugar-plums, dollar signs will be dancing in player’s heads this week as they dream of finding a pile of money under the tree!

The combined jackpots have not been this high since June, 2019.

"The Arizona Lottery is ready to spread a little Holiday Cheer," said Gregg Edgar, Arizona Lottery Executive Director. “What could make your holiday more cheerful than winning your share of more than a half-billion dollars up for grabs this week? Come try and put a little extra jingle in your pockets with Powerball and Mega Millions."

A jackpot winner in Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing would have the choice between an estimated annuity value of $330 million, or the lump-sum cash value of $252.8 million (before taxes). This jackpot has been rolling since a Glendale couple won it last in June for $414 million!

A jackpot winner in Wednesday’s Powerball drawing would have the choice between an estimated annuity value of $321 million, or the lump-sum cash value of $247.1 million (before taxes).  Arizonans have seen a lot of Powerball luck, with three separate players winning $50,000 in the same drawing last Wednesday!

Arizona Lottery ticket sales fund more than a dozen vital programs across our state, including higher education infrastructure built and maintained by the Board of Regents, habitat purchased through the Heritage Fund to protect and promote our unique and iconic wildlife, and the Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA, speaking in court for abused and neglected children.  These are just a few of the 18 beneficiaries that receive hundreds of millions of Lottery dollars every year.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11 p.m. ET. Tickets are $2 and players can add the Megaplier option for an additional $1, which multiplies all prizes except for the jackpot.

Powerball drawings are held Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11 p.m. ET. Tickets are $2 and players can add the Power Play option for an additional $1, which multiplies all prizes except for the jackpot.
