Arizona Lottery and Chicanos Por La Causa Announce Major Workforce Development Funding Through Unique Partnership

PHOENIX  – The Arizona Lottery is teaming up with Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC) to increase capacity of their Workforce Solutions Program to train and connect additional job seekers with quality jobs that will improve their lives, our communities and Arizona’s overall economy. The Arizona Lottery is presenting a $50,000 check on Saturday, February 29th, to CPLC’s Workforce Solutions Program to provide:

  • Training and upskilling opportunities to incumbent workers, youth and unemployed individuals
  • Spanish language GED & GED fast track (hybrid/ drop in model)
  • High School classes & Job training
  • Monthly Hiring Events/Job Fairs from within Desert Sky Mall and the surrounding Maryvale communities.

CPLC estimates that this funding will enable their Workforce Solutions program to impact the lives of more than 200 people with case management, vocational training and supportive services.

Economic independence through sustainable employment is key to self-sufficiency,” said Andres Contreras, Chicanos Por La Causa Executive Vice President of Social Services & Education. “Toward this end, we appreciate the long-term support from the Arizona Lottery that shares our mission to drive economic empowerment by supporting services and programs that help individuals and families with the opportunity and tools to thrive.”

CPLC Workforce Solution’s mission is to strengthen the local workforce and connect job seekers with sustainable employment that will lead to life-long success. CPLC’s bilingual staff help job seekers with all aspects of obtaining and keeping a job including General Adult Education classes (GED), occupational training, job placement assistance, and supportive services. In addition, CPLC’s Opportunity Youth Initiative focuses on assisting disconnected youth with work experience opportunities, job placements, training, and a host of other services.
