PHOENIX (April 2, 2017) – April Fools didn’t play a trick on one lucky Arizona Lottery player this year! The $60 million Powerball® jackpot was won in Saturday’s drawing, which is the first time that Arizona has seen a Powerball jackpot win since 2015.
"This is an exciting time for not only the lucky winner, but the state and the Arizona Lottery,” Gregg Edgar Executive Director of Arizona Lottery said. "This is the first time we have seen a Powerball grand prize winner in our state since 2015, and we are happy for our Littlefield retail partner. We want to not only congratulate the winner, but thank them for playing the Arizona Lottery and helping us give back to our state!”
The winning ticket was purchased in Littlefield, Arizona at the Scenic General Store located on 2960 Scenic Blvd. The lucky white ball numbers were, 09, 32, 36, 44 and 65, with a Powerball number of 01 and a Powerplay number of 03. The ticket has not yet been claimed.
This is the first multi-state jackpot winner in Arizona that the Arizona Lottery has seen in two years! This weekend’s lucky winner has the option of taking the giant jackpot through a 30-year annuity or claiming the cash prize of $36.4 million.
The jackpot winner isn’t the only winner in this situation; retailers that sell the winning jackpot ticket get a $25,000 bonus from the Arizona Lottery, on top of their 6.5% commission on lottery ticket sales.
In addition to the lucky grand prize winner, more than 11,000 Arizona players won cash prizes in Powerball jackpot drawing on Saturday night, ranging from $4 to $100.
An estimated $40 million jackpot is up for grabs in the next Powerball drawing on Wednesday, April 5. Players can also purchase a Power Play for $1 extra for the chance to multiply their non-jackpot winnings by up to five times. Players must purchase their tickets before 6:59 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 to be eligible for the drawing.
