Q. What are the benefits of becoming a Lottery retailer?
A. In addition to the 6.5% commission on every lottery ticket sold, a lottery retailer has many advantages including service to regular customers, repeat traffic from redeeming winning tickets, increased sales of other store merchandise, increased new customer traffic, and financial benefits to the state of Arizona.

Q. Why does the Arizona Lottery need my personal information?
A. The Arizona Lottery is required by law to perform credit and criminal background investigations on the owners, officers, directors and other individuals related to the business. The information set out in the personal information section is required to perform those investigations. If this information is not provided, an application cannot be processed.

Q. How long does it take to become a retailer?
A. The average processing time is four weeks. Applications that are submitted without all of the required information, signatures and/or attachments generally cannot be completely processed until the required information is received.

Q. How much does it cost to become a retailer?
A. A non refundable application fee of $36.00 for each retailer location is submitted with application. This will be used to offset some of the cost of processing the application. There will also be a renewal fee of $36.00 per location every three years.

Q. Can I still play the Lottery if I’m a retailer?
A. Yes. However, retailers cannot sell tickets or pay prizes to themselves, but they can purchase tickets from someone else.

Q. Can my business just sell Lottery tickets?
A. No. By state law, a retailer cannot limit its business to lottery sales only.

Q: How can I prevent inventory and accounting problems?
A: Retailers should be able to account for every ticket. Lottery Security strongly recommends keeping a written inventory of Instant Lottery products. A sample inventory sheet may be obtained from your Lottery Sales Representative.

Q: How do I return tickets for ended games or last prize claimed?
A: All Scratchers returns must be processed by your Lottery Sales Representative. Retailers are no longer authorized to process full or partial pack returns. Your Sales Representative will visit your retail location within 30 days of the official game ending notice.

A: Credit will be given after SGI has received the returns.

Q: When do I get billed for a pack of instant tickets sent to me?
