PHOENIX (December 27, 2016) – The ultimate Christmas present came a day early for an Arizona resident who won the $8.4 million The Pick™ jackpot in Saturday’s drawing.
The winning ticket was purchased at the QuikTrip located on 1141 S. Crismon Road in Mesa. The ticket has not yet been claimed.
"It is so exciting to have a jackpot winner over the holiday season for Arizona’s game The Pick," Gregg Edgar Executive Director of Arizona Lottery said. "We want to thank the lucky winner for playing lottery and helping us give back to our state!"
The $8.4 million jackpot was the second largest The Pick jackpot of 2016 rolling for nearly eight months! This weekend’s winner has the option of taking the jackpot through a 30-year annuity or claiming the cash prize of $5.5 million.
The jackpot winner isn’t the only winner in this situation; retailers that sell the winning jackpot ticket get a $5,000 bonus from the Arizona Lottery, on top of their 6.5% commission on lottery ticket sales.
In addition to the lucky grand prize winner, more than 14,000 Arizona players won cash prizes in The Pick drawing on Saturday night, ranging from $3 to $2,000.
An estimated $1 million jackpot is up for grabs in the next The Pick drawing on Wednesday, December 28. Players must purchase their tickets before 6:59 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 to be eligible for the drawing.
Players must be 21 years or older to purchase or redeem tickets. Winners have 180 days from the drawing date to claim their prize at an Arizona Lottery office or by mail. Overall odds vary by game. All sales are final. In accordance with the ADA, these materials may be made available in an alternative format. Gambling Problem? Call 1.800.NEXT STEP (1-800-639-8783). Please Play Responsibly™.
