Lottery Players Stuff Early Birds in Timed Race

Millionaire Raffle Holiday Edition Early Bird drawing brings out enthusiastic players vying for prize

PHOENIX (Nov. 16, 2009) — With the Millionaire Raffle Holiday Edition Early Bird drawing just three days away, the Arizona Lottery is recruiting three Millionaire Raffle ticket holders  to prepare some real ‘early birds’ for the chance at a prize anyone would gobble up.

Millionaire Raffle ticket holders that stop by on Wednesday afternoon at a Phoenix Fry’s location will be entered into a drawing to complete a ‘feather-raising’ task that will net one of them a $500 Fry’s gift card. Three finalists will roll up their sleeves, don a pair of kitchen gloves and hair net, and prepare and stuff a Thanksgiving turkey in a timed race. The Arizona Lottery will provide all of the fixings for a tasty turkey – from seasonings and a mirepoix to a bowl of prepared stuffing – and leave the rest up to the contestants.

Turkeys will be donated to the Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS) to mark the occasion. Contestants will be able to take their turkey home in an ice chest to enjoy as an “early bird” meal.

Winning ticket from Saturday’s drawing has not been claimed

PHOENIX (Nov. 16, 2009) — A lucky player of The Pick is ushering in the holiday season a brand new multi-millionaire after winning Saturday’s $3.1 million drawing — the highest jackpot for The Pick in more than seven months.

The winning ticket, which has not yet been claimed, was purchased at the 4 Sons Food Store at 15445 W. Waddell Road in Surprise. The winning numbers were 5, 6, 12, 18, 23 and 37.

“We are excited to have a winner for our state’s own jackpot game, The Pick,” said Jeff Hatch-Miller, executive director of the Arizona Lottery. “I encourage anyone who bought a Pick ticket for Saturday’s drawing at the 4 Sons Food Store in Surprise to dig it out and check their numbers to see if they’re the state’s newest millionaire.”

It has been exactly two months since there has been a jackpot winner for The Pick. Because Saturday’s jackpot was hit, Wednesday’s jackpot will return to $1 million.

Drawings for The Pick are broadcast Wednesday and Saturday during the 10 p.m. news on Channel 15 (ABC) in Phoenix, Channel 13 (CBS) in Tucson and in Spanish on Univision Arizona.

Fourth $1 Million Prize Won in Arizona Lottery Scratchers Game

Cash Spectacular Scratchers ticket offers millions of prizes totaling more than $100 million

PHOENIX (Nov. 3, 2009) — The fourth of 10 available $1 million top prizes in the Arizona Lottery’s $100 Million Cash Spectacular Scratchers game has been won.

Patricia A. Cohen of Rockville, Md., purchased the winning ticket at the Valero at 2011 S. Ellsworth Road in Mesa. After scratching it off at the store, Cohen and her son checked the ticket multiple times to make sure it was a winner. She immediately signed her name on the ticket and put it in a safe.

Cohen said she intends to share the winnings with her family.

Launched in January, Cash Spectacular boasts more than $100 million in cash prizes — including 10 $1 million grand prizes. There are more than 391,000 prizes from $50 to $500, and more than 5,400 prizes from $1,000 to $50,000. In total, there are more than 4.8 million prizes ranging from $10 to $1 million.

There are now six $1 million top prizes remaining.

“It’s not every day that we have a $1 million prize winner walk through our doors, but that’s exactly what has happened,” said Jeff Hatch-Miller, executive director for the Arizona Lottery. “We still have six $1 million top prizes remaining for our Cash Spectacular game and look forward to ushering in those new millionaires when they come to our office to claim their prize.”

The $10 Scratchers tickets are available at retailers where Lottery tickets are sold. You must be at least 21 to purchase or redeem tickets. The Arizona Lottery reminds everyone to please play responsibly.

PHOENIX (Nov. 1, 2009) — Millionaire Raffle is back with a special “Holiday Edition” with more than $3 million in total cash prizes, including one $1 million grand prize and a special Early Bird drawing on Nov. 19 worth $100,000!  Tickets for the Arizona Lottery’s latest Millionaire Raffle are now on sale at retailers where Lottery products are sold.

As an added incentive, all players who purchase a Millionaire Raffle “Holiday Edition” ticket for the Early Bird drawing by 2 p.m. Nov. 19 will also receive a free PowerballTM ticket.

In three weeks, on Nov. 19, the Arizona Lottery will hold a special Early Bird drawing that will give players the opportunity to win 20 prizes of $5,000. All tickets purchased by Nov. 19 for the Early Bird drawing are still eligible to win all of the other prizes at the main drawing on Jan. 4 — even if they’ve already won a $5,000 prize on Nov. 19.

Lottery officials expect the $20 tickets to sell out quickly, as there are only 300,000 tickets available for purchase — 50,000 less than previous Millionaire Raffles.

“Just in time for the holidays, we are so excited to be able to offer our players an extra-special opportunity to win big at our Early Bird drawing,” said Jeff Hatch-Miller, executive director of the Arizona Lottery. “Because tickets are automatically entered into the main drawing on Jan. 4 — even if they already won a big prize on Nov. 19 — we expect tickets to sell quickly as players realize they have great odds at winning a fantastic cash prize.”

In addition to the single $1 million prize and the 20 Early Bird prizes of $5,000, there are six $100,000 prizes, 40 $10,000 prizes, 750 $1,000 prizes and 350 $500 prizes.

With just 300,000 tickets available, the Millionaire Raffle “Holiday Edition” offers players the best odds ever at winning $1 million. The $20 tickets are sold in sequential order, and sales will stop once the last of the tickets has been sold.

Winning numbers will be posted on arizonalottery.com and azmillionaireraffle.com after 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4.
