Southern Arizona Woman Wins $1.7 Million in The Pick

Winning ticket from Saturday’s drawing purchased in Tucson

PHOENIX (Dec. 16, 2009) — An Amado resident has come forward to claim her $1.7 million prize from the Dec. 12 drawing of The Pick, Arizona’s own high-jackpot game.

Guadalupe Aguirre, who lives in the small town of Amado in Santa Cruz County, about 40 miles south of Tucson, purchased her winning ticket at Giant Express-Conoco, 761 W. Ajo Way, Tucson.

Aguirre chose the cash option and walked away with $971,428.50 after taxes.

Because Saturday’s jackpot was hit, tonight’s (Wednesday, December 16, 2009) jackpot will return to $1 million.

Drawings for The Pick are broadcast Wednesday and Saturday during the 10 p.m. news on Channel 15 (ABC) in Phoenix, Channel 13 (CBS) in Tucson and in Spanish on Univision Arizona.

Players can check their numbers by logging onto arizonalottery.com or by calling the winning numbers hotlines at 480-829-PICK in Phoenix and 1-800-499-3798 in all other Arizona areas.
