$200,000 Powerball Prize Won in Arizona

Powerball jackpot hit, returns to $20 million for Wednesday’s drawing

PHOENIX (March 15, 2010) — One Powerball ticket purchased in Glendale for Saturday’s drawing matched all five white ball numbers for the second prize of $200,000. As of 10 a.m. today, that ticket has not yet been claimed.

The ticket was purchased at the Circle K at 6937 N. 75th Ave. The winning numbers were 6, 16, 20, 31, 36 and the Powerball was 8. The Arizona ticket was one of 12 nationwide that matched all five white ball numbers for the second prize.

Because the $211.7 million Powerball jackpot was won by a single ticket holder in New Jersey, the jackpot returns to $20 million for Wednesday’s drawing.

Since the end of January, there have been a total of six second prize winning tickets purchased here in Arizona:

·         January 27: Safeway, 13503 W. Camino del Sol, Sun City

·         Jan. 30: Circle K, 1850 S. Stapley Dr., Mesa

·         Feb. 13: Fry’s Food Store, 185 W. Apache Trail, Apache Junction

·         Feb. 27: Circle K, 13110 W. Glendale Ave., Glendale

·         March 10: Safeway, 8021 N. 35th Ave., Phoenix

·         March 13: Circle K, 6937 N. 75th Ave., Glendale

“We are excited to add another $200,000 Powerball winner to the string of second prize tickets won in Arizona in recent weeks,” said Jeff Hatch-Miller, executive director for the Arizona Lottery. “Four of the six $200,000 prizes out there are waiting to be claimed, so I would like to urge everyone who participated in those drawings to check their tickets to see if they may be the state’s latest Powerball winners.”

So far, only the Jan. 27 and Feb. 27 winning tickets have been claimed.

In addition, the jackpot for The Pick, Arizona’s own jackpot game, is now at $5.9 million, the highest it has been in more than two years.

The drawings are broadcast during the 10 p.m. news on Channel 15 (ABC) in Phoenix, Channel 13 (CBS) in Tucson, and in Spanish on Univision. Powerball is played in 41 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
