PHOENIX (June 3, 2010) — A Surprise man has come forward to claim the $2.6 million The Pick jackpot from the drawing last Saturday, May 29.
The winner, who requested to remain anonymous, purchased his ticket at the Valero Corner Store at 14559 W. Grand Ave., in Surprise.
The winner said he finds it hard to believe he won, saying, “Now I can relax and enjoy my retirement without worry.” He chose the cash option, which is approximately one half of the announced jackpot. After taxes, he was issued a check for $1,022,009.52.
“We are delighted that an Arizona resident won our state’s own jackpot game, The Pick,” said Jeff Hatch-Miller, executive director of the Arizona Lottery. “It’s always a thrill to have a big winner come through our doors.”
Drawings for The Pick are broadcast Wednesday and Saturday during the 10 p.m. news on Channel 15 (ABC) in Phoenix, Channel 13 (CBS) in Tucson and in Spanish on Univision Arizona.
Players can check their numbers by logging onto arizonalottery.com or by calling the winning numbers hotlines at 480-829-PICK in Phoenix and 1-800-499-3798 in all other Arizona areas.
