PHOENIX (May 5, 2010) — A ticket purchased in Tucson for the May 4 Mega Millions drawing matched all five white ball numbers for the second prize of $250,000, joining the state’s first second-prize winning ticket purchased in Yuma for the drawing just a week earlier.
Yesterday’s winning ticket was purchased at the D/S Corner Store at 1895 E. Valencia Road in Tucson. The winning numbers were 9, 21, 31, 36, 43 and the Mega Ball was 8. One ticket purchased in California matched all numbers to win the $266 million jackpot.
A ticket purchased in Yuma for the April 27 drawing also matched all five white ball numbers for the second prize. Michael Pettigrew of Yuma claimed his $250,000 prize on Monday, saying that he was happy to finally be able to purchase his Mega Millions tickets in Arizona after previously having to travel to California to buy them.
Because Tuesday’s jackpot was hit, the jackpot returns to $12 million for Saturday’s drawing.
“We are excited to have two $250,000 winning tickets for Mega Millions sold recently in Arizona,” said Jeff Hatch-Miller, executive director for the Arizona Lottery. “I would like to encourage everyone who purchased a Mega Millions ticket at the D/S Corner Store in Tucson to check their tickets to see if they may be the state’s next big Arizona Lottery winner.”
Mega Millions drawings occur on Tuesdays and Fridays. Results can be seen on the 10 p.m. news on Channel 15 (ABC) in Phoenix, Channel 13 (CBS) in Tucson, and in Spanish on Univision Arizona.
Players can also check their numbers by logging onto arizonalottery.com or by calling the winning numbers hotlines at 480-829-PICK in Phoenix and 1-800-499-3798 in all other Arizona areas.
