PHOENIX (Oct. 1, 2009) — Two Powerball tickets sold in Arizona for Wednesday’s drawing matched all five white ball numbers for the second prize of $200,000. As of noon Thursday, neither ticket has been claimed.
The retailers that sold the second prize tickets were the Safeway at 520 W. Osborn Road in Phoenix and the Circle K at 1880 W. University Drive in Tempe. The winning tickets were among only six tickets in the country to win the second prize. Wednesday’s winning numbers were 41, 42, 52, 54, 57, and the Powerball was 30.
Because the Powerball was not hit Wednesday, the estimated jackpot for Saturday’s drawing climbs to an estimated $193 million.
“The Arizona Lottery is thrilled to have not one but two second-prize winners from Arizona,” said Jeff Hatch-Miller, executive director for the Arizona Lottery. “I encourage everyone who participated in Wednesday’s drawing to check their tickets because they may hold a $200,000 prize.”
The drawings are broadcast during the 10 p.m. news on Channel 15 (ABC) in Phoenix, Channel 13 (CBS) in Tucson, and in Spanish on Univision Arizona. Powerball is played in 30 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Players can also check their numbers by logging onto arizonalottery.com or by calling the winning numbers hotlines at 480-829-PICK in Phoenix and 1-800-499-3798 in all other Arizona areas.
