PHOENIX (Aug. 31, 2009) – A lucky Arizona Powerball player is holding a $200,000 prize from Saturday’s drawing. As of 3 p.m. Monday, the ticket still had not been claimed.
The retailer that sold the second prize ticket is Woody’s Food Store at 1145 W. Wickenburg Way in Wickenburg. The winning ticket was the only one in the state to win the second prize of $200,000 by matching all five white ball numbers — and just one of five tickets in the country to win the second prize. Saturday’s winning numbers were 1, 20, 37, 52, 53, and the Powerball was 33.
Powerball tickets for Wednesday’s drawing can be purchased until 6:59 p.m. that night. Because the Powerball was not hit on Saturday, the estimated jackpot for Wednesday’s drawing is $45 million.
“The Arizona Lottery is thrilled to have a second-prize winner from Arizona,” said Jeff Hatch-Miller, executive director for the Arizona Lottery. “I encourage everyone who participated in Saturday’s drawing to check their tickets; they may hold a $200,000 prize.”
The drawings are broadcast during the 10 p.m. news on Channel 15 (ABC) in Phoenix, Channel 13 (CBS) in Tucson, and in Spanish on Univision Arizona. Powerball is played in 30 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Players can also check their numbers by logging onto arizonalottery.com or by calling the winning numbers hotlines at 480-829-PICK in Phoenix and 1-800-499-3798 in all other Arizona areas.
