Scratchers prizes must be claimed within 180 days of the announced end of the game (click here for Scratchers game ending dates). Drawing prizes must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing (see below). If the 180th calendar day falls on a non-business day (weekends, holidays, etc.), the claimant must present the valid winning ticket to the Lottery no later than 5 p.m. the following business day.
Most of the prize money that remains unclaimed goes back to the players in the form of more prizes. By statute, 30% of unclaimed prize money is transferred each year to the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program, which is solely funded by this money.
